All Smiles.

This is a wonderful idea! Check it out!

WhiteLined Sketching

I don't do this too often. Meaning that I do not usually post twice in one day, but I have since done some sketching since I last wrote to all of you. Now, this does not mean that you can skip out on checking out the blog I listed below. Don't forget. Check it out.

Ok, so....I have started this project for my grandma who is renovating her house, or at least planning on renovating. She asked me to draw out some plans so that she could get a visual. This type of sketch is a little different than most of the art I have been doing, or ever done. It has been fun though. It is different and that is ALWAYS a good thing. Boredom and the usual are bad things when it comes to art. They ultimately mean that an artist is about to get "burned out" and that art will become a job and not something they love and look forward to. It is one of the worst things that can happen to an artist, along with the customer satisfaction disease...but that is definitely another blog post. Anyhoo, here is one of the kitchen designs I played with tonight. I found some really awesome grid paper at Hobby-closed-on-Sunday-Lobby. It is a light grey with white grid lines. The lines are easy to see, but also easy to draw on top of. The paper is also great for both pencil and marker use. I love it. Whitelines. Google it.

So, as you go about your day, try to do things differently. Try something new for lunch, walk a different route to work, make a new friend, read a new blog (check out the link on the last blog =D), and just remember that it's the random reasons....

Speechless

It has been almost ten days since my last post, and sadly I have nothing to tell you, and nothing to show you. I have been working, not creating art. It's a tad bit sad, but it is life. So since, I can't provide you with a post today I have decided to recommend some reading for you. Go to this blog, read it, look at the photos, follow it if you so desire. It is a good one. Enjoy. :)

14 Days From Tomorrow

Wow. Time seems to be flying by as summer begins. I have more free time now than I have ever had, even though I am working two jobs. However, I refuse to be bored. Boredom is a choice, which can be prevented. I have been emerging myself into art projects and such to keep my free time fun. My art projects have mainly consisted of pieces that are for me...and the boyfriend. Never before have I created art that is solely for me and for what I want. It ALWAYS has another reason for being created--art assignment, banquet centerpiece, art show decoration, AP AOC....etc. So you can imagine my joy when I am free to create a few things that are just for me...and my new apartment with the boyfriend. The same apartment which I will get a key for in 14 days from tomorrow. I am so excited!

I am not going to post a picture today because I am referring you all to my page, "Domus Mea" which has a bunch of pictures of the projects I have been working on, along with some of the other fun purchases for the new place.

As I leave you today, I want to remind everyone that sometimes you need to do something just for yourself. It makes you smile. It makes your day wonderful. It is good for you. And, like always, remember that...it's the random reasons...

In the Cushion

Hello everybody! (or those of you who so kindly take the time to read my blog...thank you btw) So in honor of my first year of college complete, a good GPA, and the start of summer I would like to share with you all my finished 2D design project. You might recognize it from my sketch which was highlighted in a previous entry.

It isn't the best of pictures, but it will do. I can't wait to get it framed and hung on the wall. So a few of the facts surrounding the project:
  • It is 3 separate pieces.
  • It is watercolor and ink.
  • Each piece is 22x16.
  • They are three different couches.
  • First is monochromatic (blue).
  • Second is analogous (blue-green, blue, blue-violet).
  • Third is triadic (red-violet, yellow-orange, blue-green).

Just remember that is it always important to think outside the box, to never over analyze, don't doubt yourself, and always do what makes you happy...then the masterpieces will start to appear. And remember...it's the random reasons.

Toes

This last weekend I was able to escape the hustle and bustle of finals week by going to see some of my family in the southwest corner of Oklahoma. We planned to go to Lake Altus, but after sitting in the cold and rain for 45 minutes we decided to retreat to Hollis where my grandparents live. This was my second time to be there and just like the first time there wasn't a tad bit of awkwardness. It was great, well, there were a lot of hugs, but I have come to expect that. I met some of the family that I had not yet been able to meet, and got to spend some time with three of my brothers. Kanyon had been to prom and was having a lot of trouble staying awake, so he was, of course, the entertainment provider.

This weekend will stand out in my mind for many reasons. Since I can only count a handful of times that I have been with this side of my family, all of the time I spend with them is very new and memorable. However, this weekend was a little revealing. It was exciting--for me at least. I was mistaken for my aunt by my grandpa. This is not the first time that we have been said to "look-a-like," and he corrected himself very quickly, but it did bring a smile to my face. Haha, that sounds terribly weird. It is like I am saying that I enjoy being confused for someone else, but I assure you, I don't. This is a little different though. The next memorable moment about this weekend was when I was trying on my new Ugg boots. I had taken off my shoe (I was wearing flats with no socks) and my grandma stopped me. I thought she was looking at my toes which were in horrible need of a pedicure, but instead she was looking at my whole foot, including my toes. Apparently, my foot, which I have been made fun of my other members of my family, it a genetic thing. So...we bonded over my feet. Odd, but great. My grandma gave me some of my great-grandmother's costume jewelry and my great-great-grandmother's watch. I wanted to cry as she told me about some of the pieces. Thankfully I was able to stay composed. The feeling of being included did not leave though, and it actually still hanging around. I am absolutely in love with this new chapter of my life. I have so many people who love and care for me, so many people that I get to love and care for, and while this has always been true, my family has almost doubled and so has the love.

Sometimes it is the feeling of being loved and included that makes you smile. It hugs you and promises to never let go, and that is what matter in this life. So remember, as you go about your day, don't forget to love someone and to include them in your life, and always remember...it's the random reasons...
