A Quirky Treat

Hello everyone! Hope this finds you well and happy! Today I have something for you that is really neat. I realize that it is Thursday, but today I don't really want to have this be a "Trinket for Thursday." So, here we go.
Back in November CJ and I went to the OKC Museum of Art for my birthday. It was a ton of fun, and my favorite exhibit while we were there was one by Franco Mondini Ruiz whose artwork is extremely lighthearted, colorful, and fun. His artwork is quickly finding a place in my heart and is starting to be very inspirational to me as I start figuring out what direction I will take my art next. Here is a video from the opening night of his show:

Hopefully you enjoyed the video and got to see how wonderful his art is. Many times artists have trouble figuring out how to sell their artwork, but Ruiz seems to have found a unique and clever way to do that. Here is his website if you would like to check out what he is up to now:

Sometimes Sappy

So....the clip I am about to post is a tad bit--no, it is completely sappy, but it is one of my favorite movie scenes from one of my top 5 favorite movies, No Strings Attached. Pearls and Pinball

Hello everyone! I would like to let you all know that I am not giving up on the whole blogging thing, but the last two weeks have been terribly busy....but in a rather good way. I am very sorry for missing things like art postings and Trinkets for Thursdays. As an apology I am posting this Dior commercial that I found really intriguing. Hope you enjoy!

A Trinket for Thursday

Today's trinket is coming from a video we watched in one of my art classes and it's influence on my Drawing 2 project 2 that I am working on. You can read about it in the post, Let Me Just Erase That. Anyways, this video is a drawing animation done by William Kentridge of South Africa. His videos are all done on paper with charcoal. He only uses about 20-30 sheets of paper per animation because he uses erasure to add a sense of history and progression to each scene. Look him up and watch more of his videos, they are pretty fantastic. Here is Automatic Writing:

if I were an Art Teacher...

Hello! Hope you all are doing well. I have been super busy this last week, but since I got a week of vacation, I'm definitely not complaining! While working one of the 8 hour graveyard shifts at Bennett I was playing around on StumpleUpon and found this wonderful video. I just had to share!

As for the blog post title...well, if I were an art teacher I would definitely have my students do this one day!

That Tingly Feeling

So, I have been super busy with getting ready to get to finals week. This past "Dead Week" as it is known around campus, has been very much alive, leaving me, at times, wanting to drop down into the fetal position. Presentation after prezi, paper after paper, design after design, this week has been a lot of work. The rainy weather had its pros and cons. It was good that it wasn't nice out, then I would want to be outside, instead of inside, working. But the dreary sky and rain seemed to make me want to curl up in bed and nap. Oh well. I have made it through more than half of the week and just have one paper left to do until finals week hits Stillwater. Luckily, unlike many of the students on campus, I do not have to worry about moving out of my room. Thank you summer conference assistant job!

Well, with the hopes that you are not already bored to tears with my description of my week, I am going to leave you with a video I used in my prezi presentation this morning in Comp 2. It gives me that tingly feeling every time I watch it and has already convinced me to add the movie to C.J.'s netflix line-up. So, I hope you enjoy this trailer from "Waiting for 'Superman'".
